We got our wedding photos yesterday and they are fantastic, we are so happy with them, Zach and Melissa did such a great job capturing our day. We have been going through them all and hope to have them up for viewing by the weekend. (We have found a website to host them on).

This afternoon I was working in the infant room at the daycare. I have been getting loads of work there (4 days this week) and I knew it was going to be a good fit when I realised all the infant staff were wearing Crocs! At TBA we all wore Crocs (a trend which I started!) and I was wondering if I should take them as my indoor shoes to the new daycare - opinions on them are pretty divided and I wanted to make a good impression - but I'm glad I did! I needn't have worried! I fit right in!

Afterwards we grabbed some Chinese food at our favourite place (such good sweet and sour pork!) before our final swimming lesson. There is another next week but we won't be able to make it next week as we got a Groupon to see Toronto FC and with it we free entry to The Ex! Woo!

Anyway, we were doing retrieval dives in swimming and I managed to pick up the 10lb weight from the bottom of the 10 foot deep pool and bring it back to the side! This is the first time I managed to do this, I usually just go for the ring which weighs nothing, but I have been practising retrieving things in Norm and Sue's pool!

Ruth's Visit

This morning I ran 5km in 28:35! I think that must be a record for me, so I'm still hopeful for a 10km in under an hour. Mike is fine now after his gum grafts, but can't eat on the left side of his mouth for 2 weeks!

Anyway, I thought I'd post some photos of what we got up to when Ruth was here last month.

On the Saturday before Ruth headed home we went to Niagara Falls.
We went on the Maid of the Mist

 Took in the views
And went along the White Water Walk.

We went to a great pizza place for lunch called Bravo! It's kind of tucked away so you have to know about it to find it but's one of the best places to eat in the area.

On Sunday we went to see the Blue Jays play baseball against the Detroit Tigers at the Rogers Centre. This was the first baseball game Mike and I have been to, and it was actually good fun.

Decked out and ready for the game!

The obligatory hot dog. It was so big I couldn't manage the popcorn too!
After the game we went to High Park, walked through the 'zoo' and went to see A Midsummer Night's Dream

The weather was perfect for it and we ordered pizza from pizza hut online and Ruth and I went to pick it up while Mike guarded our seats! It was packed out by the time we returned.
The play was really good - definitly recommend it - and we even saw 'Bottom' on the subway on our way home - we followed him all the back the St Clair, but he doesn't live in our building!
Monday - took it easy but thought we'd take a walk in the ravines in the afternoon, however all the bridges were closed so didn't get very far :(
I'll have to dig out the rest of the photos of the CN Tower, Korean BBQ, Jack Astors etc soon. I think they must still be on the camera...

Ice Skating

The other day Mike and I went out to investigate the small ice rink near our apartment. We have been to lots of different rinks in the city but never to this one! It was surprisingly busy considering it's looked empty every time we've walked past. There are two rinks, a skating and a hockey one, and there were lots of little kids out playing hockey today. It always amazes me how good even at four and five years old they are! They just skate around so confidently and effortlessly!

This is the dress I made a while back. It's a bit too big really, but belted up it works pretty well. I bought some more fabric on Monday to make another one so we'll see how that turns out!

Tonight we are off for our third skiing lesson of the season! We still haven't had much snow, so we're skiing on man-made snow which is always harder. Tonight we'll be going down this hill for the first time!

Toronto Islands in Winter

Last Sunday Mike and I caught the ferry over to the islands on what happened to be probably the coldest day so far this winter. Our trip over started with a bird trapped in the waiting room at the ferry dock. We were desperately trying to get the bird to fly out the door but it wasn't happening and we ended up having to catch the coat before it flew out.
our purpose of the trip was to visit the church where we will be getting married later this year and it turned out to be perfect! Beautiful stained glass windows and just the perfect size for us!

The lake had started to freeze over and people were already out playing hockey and skating on it. It looks like fun, but we could at times see the edge of the ice as it hasn't yet been cold enough for the whole lake to freeze over!
